Rules-

Round length

Adult - 5 minutes
Junior - 4 minutes

Ways to win

Win by submission or referees decision. The referee will award victory to the fighter who has been working the hardest to finish the fight (referees decision is final). In the event of a draw there will be a one minute break with a two minute over time. If an athlete can't continue after one minute rest the opponent will win by forfeit.

Illegal moves

• No slamming
• No dropping an opponent on their head
• No striking of any kind
• No leaving the mat without the referees permission
• Corners encroaching on to the mat
• Unsportsman like behaviour
• Abusive manner
• No neck cranks
• No gauging
• No heel hooks
• No small joint manipulation
• No spine locks
• No suplexes
• No twisting of the knee or ankle in the under 1 year experience division
  (achilles crush and straight knee bars are the only leg submissions allowed)
• Juniors, no leg locks

Spartan Grapple Challenge has evolved into the South West's biggest grappling event with well over a hundred entrants last time.

We aim to give competitors the opportunity to get as much experience as possible in a friendly competitive atmosphere. The rules are the same as normal for Spartan Grapple Challenge, 5 minute rounds with victory coming by submission or refs decision based on who was the most attacking competitor.

Each competitor will get a minimum of 2 bouts plus a chance to enter the absolute division.

There will be medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each catagory.

The experience divisions for male adults will be under and over 1 year.

Men's weight divisions: Under 68, 73, 78, 84, 93, -100, +100kg, Absolute.
Female and junior divisions weights depend on the number of entries.
